About Vermont Organics Reclamation

Native Vermonters, Tim Camisa and Mike Rooney, first began their work with Vermont Organics Reclamation, Inc. in an effort to solve the “clean-up” issues of Lake Champlain.

Their first steps; create a manure treatment system that will improve the environmental impact of dairy manure, without taking away from the quality or the quantity farmers need for their fields.

In the revolutionary new process, manure is put through a screen separator and screw press, where the majority of phosphorus and excess nutrients are partitioned from the manure. It is phosphorus and these excess nutrients that contaminate Vermont’s waterways when rain and melting snow wash them from farmland where manure has been spread.

The solids and excess nutrients are captured and recycled to produce a line of soils and other organic products. In doing so, excess phosphorus is removed from Vermont’s watersheds.

Vermont Organics Reclamation Sales Director, Keith E. Friend, brings over 20 years experience in customer service, sales and distribution from various industries and holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. He brings a wealth of good business sense to our team and plays an integral role in all facets of operations. In addition, Keith is directly involved with product development on new cultivars as well as potting media and other soil amendments. With several balls always in the air, he figures out a way to get it all done while meeting and usually exceeding others’ expectations.
